| Interactive and non-linear This multiple level ULURU DVD is a multimedia sampler, both interactive and immersive. In other words, it enables immersion into various levels of the composition. The linearity and timeframes of the video and music sequences can be modified at any time, and are on interwoven levels. To explore the aesthetics of fractal non-linearity, the various symbolisms of the composition can also be spontaneously selected at any time. Create Your Own ULURU Performance! This volume contains numerous video and audio tracks. You are free to play the tracks in any order you prefer, or to play and loop some and ignore the others. No particular order of playing is the "right one", although the order of playing of this volume has been arranged by the composer as a suggestion only. To select your own personal combination, you can change "Angle" or "Audio" on the DVD control panel at any time during playing. Furthermore, this work pool offers video footage, which can be used together with all other information on this volume (e.g. images, soundtracks, the score, lyrics etc.) to create your own performance, concert, symphony, multimedia installation, or even to edit and mix your own version of ULURU. To create your own ULURU performance, you may define at random or by specific selection your own order of playing the tracks of either the ULURU movies or the ULURU music volumes. Create Your Own ULURU Version! To create your own audiovisual version of ULURU, you may choose visual effects and images from this work pool and combine them with the music of your choice from the various soundtracks. Create Your Own ULURU Installation! To create your own ULURU installation, you may arrange or edit the artistic digital data of this volume for performance and display to suit your artistic intentions. The holographic, self-similar structure of the work ULURU allows for unrestricted combination, re-mixing, re-editing and re-arrangement of the artistic information contained in this volume. Create Your Own ULURU Symphony & Concert or ULURU Opera! To create your own ULURU Symphony, Concert or Opera, you may use the score of ULURU. You may choose instruments of the traditional orchestra, but you may also experiment and create your own virtual orchestra of virtual instruments to combine it with the audio and video sources of this volume. The music of ULURU is notated on 108 different staves. Each instrument plays an independent part. The principle of self-similarity underlies the composition, which is built up of two basic units in dotted rhythm. The entire material of the work is constructed from these basic units, arranged in rising or falling scales. So the whole work is contained in its smallest part. The basic neutral version of the score neither defines particular instruments nor contains any information about tempo, dynamics, articulation, general terms, mood, feeling or style. It is up to the performer to define the manner in which the work is to be played and to allot the instruments both for orchestra and soloists. Therefore the score allows for infinite versions of creation. The interpreter becomes co-creator. PostScript and audio files of the complete score (staves) of ULURU can be accessed on the DVD-ROM part of this volume.
ULURU is a work of extreme and sudden dynamic contrasts. This recording aims to convey the music by using the full dynamic range of the DVD medium. To avoid damage to equipment or hearing, caution is therefore advised when selecting an appropriate listening level. |
